Introducing Horus

Horus the cockatoo came into my life on 5 April 2011, one day before my twelfth birthday. He is a sulphur-crested cockatoo. Horus came from the Canberra RSPCA where he had been handed in one month before as a stray.

My parents drove six hours to collect him while I was at school and brought him home on the back seat of the car to our house in Sydney.

At the shelter his name was Rosco but on the journey home it seemed he was saying Oscar. The next day during history we started studying Ancient Egypt and the teacher mentioned Horus the falcon god. It was a perfect name.
